1. PDP and blog: Friday 17th May 2013
The PDP should demonstrate the development of your understanding of your area of professional practice and how your ongoing research has helped to prepare you for future professional roles. This can be done through a summary of innovations in your field their impact on professionals and professional practice.
The blog should be a record of the ongoing research and a representation of a personal position in relation to the innovation environment in computer games. It can include links to current research and innovation, innovative products/practices or technologies, innovators and expert practitioners.
2. Literature Review: Monday 14th January 2013
The Literature Review (1500 words) should present a detailed analysis of current research in an area relating to your professional practice that has the potential to support a novel development.
It should review current knowledge and practice in the field and related activities. The conclusion of the Literature review should present a proposed area for further development.
3. Poster & Abstract: Friday 17th May 2013
The Poster and Abstract (no more than 500 Words) summarises the detail of your research area and will be presented to a peer group in the form of a formal presentation. The poster is a predominantly visual representation of you findings and the format may vary depending on the nature of the information. Guidance on the format of your poster is available in the module learning resources. \\learn2\module\IAMG The abstract should be a written document that supports the poster and introduces issues that are investigated in more detail in the research paper.
4. Research Paper: Friday 17th May 2013
The Research Paper (no more than 4000 words) presents your research findings. This is a formal piece of academic writing that reflects a deep understanding of your professional role and a current issue relating to professional practice. The paper should include a justification for the selection of your area of research in the context of professional computer games development and present an innovative outcome to an identified problem. The findings must be tested using a recognised research methodology and supported by peer reviewed materials. OR
Technical Demonstration or Media Exposition: Friday 17th May 2013
The Technical Demonstration or Media Exposition is the practical output of your project and should demonstrate how your research could be applied in a practical context. The output must demonstrate the context in which the product could be applied and how it would function; or how it would be experienced by the user and how it effects the user experience.
The final presentation of the media should be in a format appropriate to its application and in an easily accessed format for presentation (ie. a video or audio file).
